Chief of Staff of the Army Visits 101st, Fort Campbell


The 39th Chief of Staff of the Army visited with the commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, along with other senior leaders during a luncheon at the 2nd Brigade Combat Team’s dining facility on September 11. Gen. Mark Milley discussed with Maj. Gen. Gary Volesky and brigade commanders and command sergeants major his vision for the Army and addressed issues facing the Army moving forward. Inactivation Ceremony for 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment


Since the Army has retired the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter, the inactivation of Kiowa Squadrons has occured across the Army. Soldier is Walking 3,000 Miles to Raise Awareness for Veterans


Neil Davis, originally from Scotland, is on a 3,178-mile journey he is calling “Not Broken, Just Damaged Walk Across America. He is doing this walk to raise funds and awareness for the charities Combat Stress in the UK and the Wounded Warrior Project in the United States. Neil Davis has served in both British and American forces. His journey began on August 1, in Cape Cod, and will end at Huntington Beach, California. He is hoping to complete the walk in 108 days. California Guard Chinook Helps Fight Wildfires


A California Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook from 1st Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment, out of Stockton, California, empties water from a Bambi bucket to douse a wildfire in Shasta County, on August 18, 2015. Army Ranger School to Graduate its First Female Students


Two female Soldiers will graduate from the Army’s Ranger School on Friday, August 21, 2015, becoming the first women to complete one of the U.S. military’s premier courses to develop elite fighters and leaders. They are Capt. Kristen Griest and 1st Lt. Shaye Haver. The Ranger School had only first opened its doors to women this past April. One Last Flight


Col. Scott Perry, assistant division commander, 28th Infantry Division, took his last flight on Thursday, August 13, 2015, from Muir Airfield on Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pa. Perry commanded the 2nd Battalion, 104th Aviation, in Iraq from 2009-2010 and served as a combat pilot in Black Hawk helicopters during that deployment. Perry walked through an arch of water created by three fire trucks, marking the end of more than 30 years of flying.
