New Commander for Long Island National Guard Aviation Support Company


Company B, 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, gained a new Commander on June 27, 2015. His name is Maj. Eric Fritz. He is a veteran of the War in Afghanistan, and a CH-47 Chinook helicopter pilot. The ceremony took place at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Ronkonkoma, NY. In the photo, taken in 2011, then-Capt. Cub Scout Field Trip


Cub scouts from Pack 8 in El Paso, Texas, visited Fort Biss’ 1st Armored Division Combat Aviation Brigade on June 22, 2015. The scouts completed various tasks in order to level up to their next “rank” in the Cub scouts. Seen in the photos are 9 year old Jheriko Watson, who is currently a Bear in Cub scounts, and Connor Montague, age 8, who is currently a Wolf.  Photos were taken by Sgt. 3rd CAB Pilots Warm Up with Hellfire


FORT STEWART, Ga. – The 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade conducted manned and unmanned teaming (MUM-T) between the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter pilots and the MQ-1C Gray Eagle unmanned aerial system for a remote Hellfire missile engagement at the Multi-Purpose Range Complex on Fort Stewart June 20. Alaska Army National Guard Helps Fight Fires


Click here to check out this awesome video of two Alaska Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment dumping more than 144,000 gallons of water on a 300-acre Stetson Creek Fire on the Kenai Peninsula. 2015 Lighthorse Squadron Ball


On the 29th of May, the 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment conducted our annual Lighthorse Squadron Ball. United Technologies Announces Exit From Helicopter Business


United Technologies Corp. announced today, June 15, 2015, that it would be ending its relationship with Sikorsky Aircraft. It is still yet to be determined whether United Technologies will sell or spin off the helicopter maker. After a several month long review, United Technologies decided to focus on high-technology products for aerospace and building industries. The review revealed that Sikorsky was no longer a good fit for the company’s portfolio. This decision will end an 86-year relationship between Sikorsky and United Technologies. Departure Ceremony


Soldiers, friends, and family from the 351st Aviation Support Battalion, South Carolina Army National Guard, all gathered for a departure ceremony at the Sumter Armory in Sumter, S.C., on June 6, 2015. The Soldiers will be deploying to Texas for training prior to departing to Kuwait for approximately one year.
