185th Aviation Brigade Transitions Back to Reserve Status


Soldiers from the 185th Aviation Brigade returned to normal operations at their home base on May 14 after a Southwest Asia deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. While deployed to Kuwait, the 185th assumed command of all Army aviation assets within U.S. Army Central Command’s area of responsibility, which included subordinate commands from both active Army and National Guard elements from across the United States. 101st Soldier Dies During Training at Fort Polk


A Soldier with Fort Campbell’s 101st Airborne Division died Tuesday at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The Soldier died from injuries suffered during a live-fire training exercise, according to a news release. The incident is under investigation. The Soldier, who was not identified Wednesday pending notification of family, was transported to Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital at Fort Polk, where he was later pronounced dead. Army Helicopters Beat Guinness World Record for Largest Formation


Thirty-two OH-58D Kiowa Warriors with 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, conducted a record-breaking formation flyover during a farewell flight at Fort Bragg, N.C., on Friday, April 15. Operation No More


The 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade command team of Chief Warrant Officer 5 Timothy Smail, Col. Jeffrey Becker, and Command Sgt. Maj. George Dove helped to facilitate training on the topic of sexual harassment and sexual assault on Hunter Army Airfield. The training was a part of “Operation Say No More,” which consisted of several different events designed to educate and raise awareness on sexual harassment and assault. Kiowa Helicopters to Fly In Last Formation


Approximately three years after defense officials proposed eliminating the Kiowa helicopters from the Army’s aviation, all but two squadrons – each flying thirty helicopters – have said “goodbye” to the Kiowa. Of those that remain, half are in South Korea and the other half are at Fort Bragg. This Friday, the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment will fly all thirty of its Kiowa Warrior helicopters over Fort Bragg and Fayetteville for the last time. Vietnam 50th Reunion


Fort Rucker will be celebrating Veterans on 12-15 May 2016. The event is being done in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam Conflict and the 50th Anniversary of the 1st Aviation Brigade. This event is for everyone! Army Promoting Nearly 4,000 NCOs in April


The Army is planning to promote 3,788 Regular Army NCOs to the ranks of sergeant through sergeant major on April 1, according to cutoff scores and sequence numbers issued by the Army in late March. April cutoff scores authorize 1,922 advancements to sergeant and 1,034 to staff sergeant, while the sequence numbers call for 86 advancements to sergeant major, 199 to master sergeant, and 547 to sergeant first class.  Congrats to all those who are being promoted.
