Huey Pilot to Receive Medal of Honor 5 Decades Later


The White House announced on Tuesday afternoon that Charles Kettles will be receiving the Medal of Honor from President Obama on July 18. The details of heroism that will see Kettles receive this award come back clearly and quickly even five decades later. 12th Combat Aviation Brigade Spouse Day


Spouses of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade participated in Combat Spouse Day on May 13, 2016, at Oberdachstetten Range Complex in Bavaria, Germany. 10th CAB Honors Fallen Heroes


The 10th Combat Aviation Brigade held  dedication ceremonies for 1st Sgt. Billy J. Siercks, Capt. Aaron Blanchard, and 1st Lt. Robert J. Hess, who all made the ultimate sacrifice, at Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield, New York, on May 24, 2016. Col. Michael C. McCurry, commander, gave a speech during the ceremony. Texas National Guard Tackles Severe Weather

Remembering D-Day


Let us take a moment to remember the epochal D-Day invasion of Normandy 72 years ago that helped the Allies to defeat Hitler. D-Day can be considered one of the world’s most consequential battles. Approximately 160,000 American, British, Canadian, and French troops took part in the invasion of northwest France, known as Operation Overlord. Over 9,000 Allied forces were killed or wounded. The Allied landing led to the liberation of France and marked the turning point in the European theater of World War 2.

1-111th Aviation Regiment Deploys


The 1st Battalion, 111th Aviation Regiment held an official departure ceremony at Cecil Field in Jacksonville on June 2, 2016. During the ceremony, Lt. Col. Alexander Harlemore, commander of the 1-111th, spoke to the large crowd of family members and distinguished guests. Two U.S. Troops Injured During ISIS Attacks


Two American troops were injured over the weekend in separate attacks by Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria, marking the first time the U.S. military has publicly disclosed a casualty among troops deployed to Syria. The injuries occured during the Memorial Day weekend. Pentagon spokesman Navy Capt. Jeff Davis said both troops were injured by indirect fire while conducting train-advise-and-assist missions.
