Change in Leadership of 122nd Troop Command


Col. Zachary E. Maner is the outgoing commander of the 122nd Troop Command, Alabama Army National Guard. Col. Roger A. Presley is the incoming commander of that unit. Maner begins his next assignment as the Chief of Staff for the 135th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Alabama Army National Guard. More than 150 service members from within the 122nd, select members of the Alabama Army National Guard leadership and guests that include families and friends of service members participated in the ceremony. 100th Training Division Welcomes New Commander


Two years after taking on the command role of the 100th Training Division, Brig. Gen. Jason L. Alaska Army National Guard Commander Earns General’s Star


Joseph Streff, who serves as the commander of the Alaska Army National Guard and the assistant adjutant general – Army, was promoted from colonel to brigadier general during a ceremony at the Alaska National Guard Armory on Sept. 21.  “It is a privilege to now wear this new rank as I serve as the Army commander,” Streff said. “From this day forward, we will continue to endeavor to make this a top-notch organization.” To read more about the ceremony and about BG Streff’s military experience, click here.

Army Secretary Meets Soldiers in Kuwait


U.S. Army Secretary Eric Fanning visited with Soldiers from U.S. Army Central and the 77th Combat Aviation Brigade on Sept. 19 at Camp Buehring, Kuwait. Working Together to Rehearse Accident Plans


Soldiers stationed at the Alabama National Guard’s Army Aviation Support Facility #1 held a rehearsal of their aircraft pre-accident plan at the facility in Hope Hull, Alabama, on September 9, 2016. The rehearsal also included personnel from the Alabama Air National Guard’s 187th Fighter Wing’s Fire and Rescue team, and the Montgomery Airport Police.  Holding these rehearsals allows aviation facility Soldiers, airport officials, and fire and rescue personnel to become familiar with each other, discuss safety procedures, and go over standard tactics and life-saving procedures. Flight With an Old Friend


Three I Corps officers with a combined 70 years of experience as Army aviators spent an afternoon wtih one of the last Kiowa Warriors still on active duty. Col. Michael Harvey, executive officer to the commanding general of I Corps, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Jim Israel, I Corps senior warrant officer, and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Rian Demery, a standardization pilot, made the short trip to the airfield to see the aircraft they had spent hours and hours behind the controls of. Iron Horse Soldiers Spend Day with Super Bowl Champs


Fort Carson Soldier’s were able to participate in the USAA’s NFL Boot Camp at UCHealth Training Center Fieldhouse on August 25, 2016. This event hosted fifty service members and invited them to compete in five drills similar to those used to evaluate NFL talent. Soldiers also had the opportunity to take a picture with Dever Bronco Cheerleaders and the Vince Lombardi trophies won by the Broncos in Superbowl XXXII and XXXIII. WBAMC Hosts Installation-Wide Baby Shower


The William Beaumont Army Medical Center hosted its 3rd annual installation-wide baby shower for expecting moms at the Fort Bliss Family Resilience Center on August 19, 2016. The baby shower welcomed over 150 expecting moms and spouses to display support from local organizations while engaging the participants in a day of educational material regarding pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and nutrition.
