New York National Guard Responds to Snowstorm Juno


394 Soldiers from the New York National Guard were on duty while New York City, Long Island, and the lower Hudson Valley were being hit by Storm Juno. The National Guard troops were called upon by New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, as part of New York’s response to the blizzard. Cameron Boys Camp Hosted at Fort Bragg


The 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, had the opportunity to spend some time with boys from the Cameron Boys Camp. The boys toured an aircraft hanger and learned about some of the features of the OH-58D Kiowa, during their visit on January 23. The Cameron Boys Camp helps to provide boys in North Carolina, between the ages of 10-15 years old, an opportunity to work out big problems and find new directions for their lives.  This article was originally found here.

New Name for Fort Bragg Air Assault School


Fort Bragg’s Air Assault School was recently renamed for an 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper. Prior to the ceremony that recently took place, the school was simply refered to as “The Air Assault School.” The campus has been renamed in honor of Pfc. Charles N. DeGlopper. DeGlopper served with the 82nd Airborne’s 325th Glider Infantry. While serving, DeGlopper sacrificed himself to allow his platoon to escape from German force. Minnesota National Guard Prepares for Hockey Day Minnesota


ST. PAUL, Minn. – In the ninth year since its inception, Hockey Day Minnesota has quickly become the State of Hockey’s showcase of talents for all ages – from peewees to the pros. This year’s event will be played atop an active airfield at Holman Field in downtown St. Paul. Partnered with the organization Serving our Troops, Hockey Day Minnesota will proudly honor the service of Minnesota’s Service members by presenting a military theme and also providing live feedback to the St. Paul-based 34th Combat Aviation Brigade members, who are currently deployed to Kuwait. 1st Air Cavalry Brigade Open House


The 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division at Hood Army Airfield, Fort Hood, Texas, held an open house on August 21. This was a free and open-to-the-public event, where more than 150 participants were able to see aircraft, vehicles, and weapons of the Air Cav up close and personal. Attendees also had the chance to speak to pilots and other Troopers in the brigade.

COL Kline


On July 28, COL John D. Kline, the commander at 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, spoke to Soldiers at a town hall meeting at the theater on Hunter Army Airfield. The reason behind this town hall meeting was to cultivate a “command climate where Soldiers are not afraid to approach their leadership when they are frustrated, and build confidence. Their leaders will do their absolute best to gain resolution.”

Commemorative Foot March
