CH-53 Search and Rescue Suspended

searchrescueU.S. Coast Guard Capt. James D. Jenkins, District 14 chief of staff, and Marine Brig. Gen. Russell A. Sanborn, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing commanding general, announced the suspension of search and rescue efforts for 12 Marines in a press conference at the Pacific War Memorial aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Jan. 19, 2016. The search for two CW-53E Super Stallion helicopters with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, which were involved in an incident off of the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, Jan. 14. The search ended after five days.
