United Technologies Corp. announced today, June 15, 2015, that it would be ending its relationship with Sikorsky Aircraft. It is still yet to be determined whether United Technologies will sell or spin off the helicopter maker. After a several month long review, United Technologies decided to focus on high-technology products for aerospace and building industries. The review revealed that Sikorsky was no longer a good fit for the company’s portfolio. This decision will end an 86-year relationship between Sikorsky and United Technologies. The decision to sell or spin off Sikorsky will be made by the end of the third quarter.
