It has been announced that Lockheed Martin Corp will be purchasing United Technologies Corp’s Sikorsky aircraft for over $8 billion. Textron Inc, a parent of Bell Helicopter, had submitted a bid for Sikorsky but dropped out once the price rose. Lockeed decided to move forward with the purchase, even with the large price tag, because it sees Sikorsky as a “signature company” that will ensure strong revenues in the medium term.
