Army Ranger School to Graduate its First Female Students

ranger1Two female Soldiers will graduate from the Army’s Ranger School on Friday, August 21, 2015, becoming the first women to complete one of the U.S. military’s premier courses to develop elite fighters and leaders. They are Capt. Kristen Griest and 1st Lt. Shaye Haver. The Ranger School had only first opened its doors to women this past April. This accomplishment is a major breakthrough for women in the armed services. Although the women will be permitted to wear the prestigious black and gold Ranger Tab on their uniforms, they are still not permitted to try out for the elite 75th Ranger Regiment, which is a Special Operations force that has it’s own separate, exhausting requirements and training.
